Salvation Army Children's Home

Tres Islas Orphanage Fund’s support of the Salvations Army Children’s Home began in 1998 on a limited basis by providing food (which is still provided).  In 2003 other necessities were added: school supplies including uniforms, shoes, and backpacks. Also provided are health and grooming aids. For many years Tres Islas provided dance lessons so the children could learn the dances of their heritage.  The Gems of Mazatlán now provide for the dance lessons.  The children also perform locally to help raise donations for their home.  Many of the children are from outlying villages. Being at the Salvation Army Children’s Home gives them a better opportunity for nutritious meals and regular school attendance. Some are now going on to college.

Over the past several years other service organizations like Back to Back and the Gems of Mazatlán along with Tres Islas Orphanage Fund have completed projects that have greatly improved the living conditions for these children.

An average of 35 children live at this home.
